PASSAGE

Passage started out as a Procreate sketch that I used as a teaching assignment for my students at The Production Art Department in Sydney (PAD).

I developed a process of lighting a scene in Photoshop way back when I was working on Red Corner at Digital Domain in 1997, right after working on The Fifth Element, that allowed you to light or re-light a scene from any direction… well mostly. I’ve carried that system of working for 30 years and passed it on to my students. The original Passage sketch grew from those assignments.

The image also became the basis of a Gouache Painting tutorial I have on Gumroad.
