Spectrum Exhibition at the Society of Illustrators

Howdy Folks!

Quick update to announce the addition of my painting Sky Burial #2 into the Spectrum Exhibition being shown at the Society of Illustrators, New York from the 3rd Sept through to 18th October.

I will be flying into NY on my way to Illuxcon7 just in time for the Artist Reception on the 12th Sept.

Many thanks to Irene Gallo, Greg Manchess, Arnie and Cathy Fenner for selecting my work, it is a great honor.   :-))

In the meantime, it’s back to painting for Illuxcon.. and here is another painting hot off the brush!

Spectrum 19

Howdy Folks,

Spectrum 19, The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art has just arrived in the mail! My painting Sky Burial #2 made it this year in the Unpublished section. Thanks again to the Fenner’s for publishing such a wonderful book.

If you haven’t seen this book or the 18 earlier editions, I thoroughly recommend them if you’re interested in Fantastic Art.

Spectrum 18 and Blue Canvas 10

Howdy folks!

If you happen to be in your local book store be sure to pick up the latest edition of Spectrum Fantastic Art 18 and Blue Canvas magazine issue X. They’re both great publications and showcase some top quality artwork. I don’t actually have a copy of Blue Canvas yet so don’t know how my portfolio spread turned out.

For those who don’t know, Spectrum is the leading annual for scifi/fantasy/fantastic artwork in any medium. I felt the reproduction in Spectrum was a tad dark this year, which may have been book and/or batch wide. I’m sure there is more in the shadows in some of those paintings! Otherwise it was printed to it’s usual wonderful quality. I’ve only skimmed through the book, but I get the feeling that traditional art has overtaken digital work this year.. who said painting was dead!!

Many thanks to Cathy and Arnie Fenner for the complimentary copy.
