Interzone #252 Illustrations

Howdy Folks,

Two illustrations for IZ magazine to share this time, the cover and one interior painting.

The interior painting is for a wonderful story titled, Diving into the Wreck by Val Nolan. The design of the ship is a direct homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey. I was painting the box art for Taschen’s upcoming box set of the Making of 2001, (more about that next post), so it was foremost on my mind and seemed to fit perfectly to this story. Incidentally, the artwork on the Taschen 2001 box as shown on their website is not the final artwork, they seem to be using an early digital mock up for the time being.

The cover painting for IZ #252 was serving double duty in that it had to work as a cover painting and work as a study for an upcoming large format Ankaris project painting that I will show at Illuxcon later this year. I did the same with IZ #251 cover as well.

Anyway, here are the paintings, enjoy!
